Rotary Drill Operators

A Rotary drill operator (RDO) is generally employed in oil and gas extraction by firms which offer support for mining. A RDO deals with removing underground oil and gas core samples for testing. The RDO operates equipments to dig a wall or ground whether they are under the sea or desert. A RDO is an expert to reach vast fields of oil and gas hidden underground.

1.Operating hydraulic cranes and drill rigs
2.Cleaning, fuelling, greasing and perform minor repairs to equipment
3.Digging underground to find oil and gas or other natural resources
4.Observing pressure gauges, move throttles and levers to control the speed

One can become a Lead of the drilling team, or even the Main Operator of the machine.

Mechanical skills

A RDO should have sound knowledge of drilling machine and tools. The RDO operates and is also involved in maintaining and repairing the machine.

Controlling Skills

Drilling requires extensive force. Therefore, in this job, one should have control over balancing the machine while it rotates.

Monitoring Skills

A RDO should monitor the machine while it's running. They persistently observe the nuts and bolts, wires, spindle or sleeve of the machine.

The average starting salary is Rs. 75,000 to Rs. 1,20,000.

There is no specific qualification required. One can also get into this profession without a high school or PUC degree.
