Heard of "The Taste of India", or "Hamara Bajaj" or "Just do it". Very likely, you will associate them with Amul, Bajaj and Nike.
While the visuals of these brands are possibly attractive as well, the tagline or the written content with a brand or a package is extremely impactful as well. The written content is referred to, in the media world, as "copy".
The job of the copywriter is to make the visual attractive with verbal content that is catchy, relevant and which will stick in the consumers minds for a long time.
1.Understanding the client requirements in detail
2.Work along with, and brainstorm with the creative team
3.Understand the product or service, and it's functionalities, in detail for which the copy is required
4.Preparing multiple options for copies, and presenting it to the client
5.Work with the creative and the production team to incorporate copy with visuals
One will usually start as a Junior copywriter, and proceed to becoming a senior copywriter. With good performance and experience, one can eventually become a Creative Director.
One can either work internally with a brand, or work at a creative agency. There is also an option to freelance as a copywriter.
A copywriter will need to be creative and think of copies that are unique. The copywriter also needs to have good understanding of what the client wants, what the audience will like, and what will work for the brand.
Communication skills is key, since writing a good copy depends upon the creative ability, as well as the language ability of the copywriter.
The copywriter will be expected to work in close partnership with the creative team, as well as work with the client.

There is no specific education requirement, but a background in design or advertising is helpful. Backgrounds in other sectors such as media, communication, journalism or English are also useful to pursue a career in copywriting.
