Human Resource Manager (HR)

Human Resource Manager also known as HR Manager. As a HR Manager your main duty will involve managing employees of an organization. Beyond that, you will also coordinate the administration activities. Hence, as a HR Manager you will be involved in recruiting people, salary related activities, training employees, getting feedback from employees and building a stronger employee-focused organisation.

1. Understanding the business requirements, and the skills and resources required

2. Posting job vacancies on social media sites and job portals.

3. Searching for the talent that is best suited to the project or role - Searching job portal sites like Naukri, Indeed or Monster for finding new candidates.

4. Conducting interviews and selecting the right candidates for an organisation.

5. Some company HR also even involve in training and development for new or existing employees.

6. Structuring salary, incentives, increment, health cover and manage employee welfare and industrial conflicts.

7. Co-ordinating with each and every individual in their organisation so that the man power is stable at every level.

8. You will take care of the safety and security of the employees.

9. Handling compensation and benefits of the employees.

10. Conducting employee engagement programs like events or competition or best employee awards etc.

11. Monitoring employee appraisal process.

Bachelor degree is the minimum qualification required to become a HR personal, but any degree specialization would be fine for HR.

However, it would be best fit if you choose Human Resource as a specialization in Undergraduate or Post Graduation, then try for internship and a job in that field. Companies are more likely to hire someone directly from college, if you have done a specialization in HR. You can also get into HR after working in the business and gaining experience. Online courses to understand how HR functions will also help in this regard.

Problem Solving:
Your job role would require solving various people-related problems or issues. It is important to have good problem-solving skills with a focus on creating a healthy and favourable work environment.

Organizational Skills:
You should have good planning and organizing techniques in order to co-ordinate with other team members. For example, organizing fun activities or events to keep employees engaged and boost productivity. Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication is required for a HR in order to communicate with all levels within the organization. HR, in many ways, is the face of the company internally and their actions are followed by the rest of the organisation. Inter-personal Skills: You should maintain good relationships with all the departments, and with employees across all levels. It is important that HR is fair and objective in it's communication, and the relationships within the organization should be friendly, cordial and unbiased.

Salary will depend upon the education, experience, location and the industry. The average salary for fresher graduates is Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 25,000.

The salary of HR can grow to about Rs. 40,000-50,000 with about 5 years of experience.

Initially you will start your career as HR trainee or HR executive in a corporate or staffing or recruitment firm.

You will become HR Manager after you perform well in the organization. As HR Manager, you will be expected to get a good understanding of business and ensure that productivity of people is high, to reach Sr. HR Manager, then VP, SVP and Director of Human Resources.
