Electrician

An Electrician undertakes a variety of tasks like installing and maintaing electric infrastructure. As an Electrician, one is involved in installing electrical wiring, troubleshooting malfunctions and repairing appliances. Their main goal is to provide and maintain smooth functioning of electrical connections to minimize accidents.

1.Diagnosing and repairing electrical problems like wiring or rewiring, electrical fixtures and control equipments
2.Inspecting and testing electrical components of electrical systems
3.Communicating with clients to understand the issues and getting electrical equipments from suppliers or electrical stores
4.Proving right estimates to customers on the kind of equipments needed to resolve the current issues
5.Surveying electrical systems like circuits, transformers, switches or switch gears in commercials and domestic places
6.Proving good quality workmanships
7.Preparing sketches or following blueprint to find exact location of installed equipments

Initially you will join as a trainee, but once you gain some experience you can become Electrical Inspector or Electrical Estimator and then a General Contractor. After experience of a few years, one can also run their own business.

Communication skill

This skill is important because they have to communicate with customers to give proper information about where troubleshooting is required. For commercial work, the Electrician advises the management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.

Technical skill

One should be proficient technically, because they have to deal with all kind of electrical systems. Installing and repairing the electrical system is the major work responsibility for this role.

Creative thinking skills

Sometimes an Electrician is also involved in preparing sketches or analysing blueprint to determine the wire and equipment location. Diagnosing the existing system is the second major task for this job.

The average salary is Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 14,000 per month.

There is no special qualification required but diploma or certificate course in Electrical may help in better understand the technique.
