Advertising and promotions executives work on generating interest in a brand, product or service. They employ different means to promote the brand, and use different mediums of promotions such as TV, radio, newspaper, etc.
The Advertising and promotions executives need to understand their target audience and the advertising budgets available to them, and plan their promotions strategy accordingly.

One can join this role either internally in an organization, or an advertising agency. There is usually a steady demand for Advertising and Promotions executive. However, one will have stronger prospects for growth if one can navigate digital marketing as well.
One can progress of becoming an Account Manager, or go on and specialize in a particular field of advertising and promotions, for example, outdoor media advertising.

Analytical skills

It is important to analyse the requirements and the budget, and decide what advertising and promotions will be most effective.

Communication skills

The team can be quite spread out and diverse, ranging from agency to internal clients, to the production, distribution and sales teams. Communication is critical since everyone needs to be informed and communicated with.

Creativity

A primary responsibility is to think of new ways of advertising, since that could be more effective than what has been done before.

Organizational skills

As mentioned before, there are multiple people to coordinate with, there are tight deadlines, and there is limited time. One needs to have good organizational skills to manage these.

Average salary for a fresher would be between Rs. 2,50,000 to 5,00,000 per annum.

Typically, a bachelors degree is required for this profession, preferably in advertising, marketing, communications or consumer behaviour.
