Clerk

Clerk or Clerical assistant is a role to take care of the routine administrative tasks in an organisation. They are critical in an office, and a lot of work depends upon them.
It is essentially a day job, and involves multiple clerical tasks from office management to travel management to cash management.

For a government clerk to improve their designation and salary, they can take exams like JAIIB and CAIIB.

Communication skills

Clerks communicate with everyone in the organization, and they need to have good communication skills, especially that of the local language.

Interpersonal Skills

Since they interact with people both internally and externally, good interpersonal skills will help them be successful in their work.

Basic computer Skills

A clerk must assist with basic data entry and maintenance of records.

As mentioned above, local language knowledge is critical.

Time management and organisational skills

There will always be multiple tasks for the clerk to do. Hence, time management and prioritising the tasks is important.

Starting salary for a clerk will be between Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 18,000. With experience, this can rise to between Rs. 15,000 to 25,000.

For a government clerk, a written test must be taken. On clearing the cut-off, one can become a clerk.
For the job of clerk in a private company, Diploma or Bachelors in any degree is sufficient to get the job of a clerk.
