Business Correspondent and Business Facilitator

Business Correspondents and Business Facilitators are the representatives who are appointed by banks as their agents to provide banking services to remote locations where there are no banks to carry out financial inclusion. Business Correspondents are permitted to carry out regular transactions for customers on behalf of banks whereas Business Facilitators duty is to create awareness about banks and their products, along with collection of bad debts.

1.Enrolling the customers, which also include the collection of Biometrics and provide cards and pins
2.Providing transaction facilities in remote locations
3.Identifying the borrowers and classifying them as per the activity
4.Creating awareness among people about the services offered by banks
5.Monitoring and handholding of Self Help Groups
6.Third party financial products marketing
7.Collection of repayments from people who owe dues to banks

To get into this profession, one should complete their Senior Secondary Education (SSC) and take up a course in Business Correspondents and Business Facilitators. Candidates who have experience in Insurance services can also become BC&BF.

Functional Skills:
Knowledge in basic principles of banking and their practices.

Communication Skills:
Good communication skills in the local language is required in order to create awareness among people in remote locations.

Marketing Skills:
These skills are required to identify the users to whom the products are applicable.

Social Skills:
One should have social skills in order to become BC&BF as the customers need more handholding than usual bank customers.

The average salary for Business Correspondents and Business Facilitators will be approximately Rs. 15000-20000 per month and increments are based on the performance and the experience gained.
