Relationship Manager

A Relationship Management or Client Relationship Manager, is responsible to improve a firms relationships with partner firms and clients. The partnership will build on what the relationship manager and customer or clients can help each other to achieve in the long-term building on short-term requirements, but long-term needs. As a relationship manager, you should understand customers business, their strategy and know the value proposition of their products and services. You have to note customers satisfaction and their feedback, whether its positive or negative.

1.Interacting with customers to explain about a product or service
2.Identifying the needs and preferences of an customer and advice them accordingly
3.Building strong relationship with clients or customers
4.Explaining complex information clearly and simply
5.Responding to customers complaints and resolving conflicts
6.Finding opportunities to cross-sell or upsell to existing clients
7.Growing business by identifying new sales and business development opportunities

You should have a minimum bachelors degree or masters degree in any discipline.

Client Management:
Managing or improving existing relation with clients is very important. You should be able to earn trust in relationships with customers by consistently demonstrating and professional competence.

Communication and Presentation:
Communication and presentation skills are the most important tools to become a relationship manager, so that you can explain about a product or service freely. Your verbal and written skills should be excellent.

Sales and Marketing:
You should have sound knowledge of sales and/or marketing skills to determine how to sell a product. This will help you to understand the further establish a market for a companys products.

Teamwork:
You should be a very good team player. Since you and your team will face customers, your coordination with your team with respect to messages conveyed to customers is very important.

Average salary for a fresher would be between Rs. 2,50,000 to 5,00,000 per annum. Besides that, you can also earn incentives.

Growth in this particular role will depend on your capacity to bring more business to the organization. You have to build a healthy relationship with clients and increase your network. The ladder of growth is pretty clear, from relationship manger, you can become branch manager then district manager or regional manager.
