Machine Learning (BFSI)

Machine Learning and AI have become the buzzwords now. Most industries are rapidly adopting technology, and Machine Learning is at the forefront of the adoption. Machine Learning is increasingly getting incorporated across all organisations. As a result, Machine Learning jobs are on the rise and over 2 million Machine Learning/ AI jobs are expected to come by 2020. This is in contrast to the fact that Machine Learning is touted to cause reduction in jobs for other roles in an organisation.

Machine Learning entails the following key responsibilities:
1.Understand business requirements and write smart algorithms to solve those problems
2.Understanding key aspects of the functions and industry that machine learning is deployed
3.Provide solutions to ensure how mundane daily tasks performed by humans can be performed without any errors
4.Ensure the intelligence gathered through machine learning is presented in a visually appealing manner

For someone who is an experienced programmer, a career in machine learning is most straightforward. One can understand the different algorithms required for machine learning and practice it.
For someone new to Machine Learning, it will be important to learn programming languages like Python, C++, Java, etc. and also take courses in Machine Learning.

Computer Programming skills:
You should be well versed in at least one programming language from Python, JAVA, C++ or another different computing language.

Mathematics and Statistics:
Strong knowledge of mathematics and statistics is extremely helpful, since a lot of work is done with data. Also, machine learning is an area where data is the key feeder to the machine learning by itself over time.

Model building and visualisation:
Creative and effective algorithms need to be built to solve issues and provide the best chance for the machine to learn.

Team Player:
You should be a good team player, since you will be working with teams across the business.

Salary range for entry level is Rs. 30,000-Rs. 35,000. The salary can go up to as high as Rs. 2,00,000 within 4-5 years.

At the very beginning, you will join as a Machine Learning engineer. Post that, you will become a Senior Engineer. You have several options post that you can branch out and further your career in Machine Learning, or get into Data Science. There is huge career growth potential in both of these fields, and this is only expected to grow in the future.
